Man Found Standing Writes:
Chamomile, German, Organic: Hungary (Matricaria recutita)
This dark blue oil is herby smelling and should not be confused with the sweet smelling Roman Chamomile. It should also not be confused with other chemotypes of German Chamomile that contains large amounts of Oxides, over 60%, grown in Europe. All German Chamomile essential oil should contain a blue colored chemical called Chamazulene, also sometimes known as just plain Azulene. The plant does not naturally contain this chemical and it is only formed through the extraction process under heat. The low temperature extraction will contain less of this chemical and more abundance of other universal plant chemistry.
Although the German Chamomile plant is used and has scientific studies for anti-inflammatory benefits, because of the high price for this essential oil most people use less expensive alternatives like Peppermint or Wintergreen and save German Chamomile for use with emotional and skin issues.
